The ultimate goal in Clash of Clans is to fight for the number one spot in the world, via the global leader boards. Let’s face it we would all like our username in the number one position.

However, none of this is possible unless you have a flawless strategy. A strong strategy consist of both a viable defence, capable of withstanding constant attacks. Withstanding attacks is not the only method you need to reach the number one position, you will also need a strong attack strategy.

If you have any tips or advice on methods that could help other plays, why not drop us an email and we may add the advice to this website. Feel free to include screenshots and any other information that you believe may help.

One of the most important troops you will need in battle are wall breakers. Whilst these may seem fairly pointless on first impression they are vital to breaking through players walls. Otherwise your troops may spend valuable time trying to break through these defensive walls, leaving them open to being attacked.

Wall Breakers are technically kamikaze troops, their main aim to is so that they will penetrate through layers of walls.

Now that we have learnt how important these troops are, we need to discuss how to defend ourselves best again them.

In a recent update to Clash of clans, Wall Breakers now target walls that enclose buildings - in short they avoid free-standing walls. Any previous strategies of placing random, single wall items should be avoided. The only reason you may want to do this strategy is to restrict attackers from dropping/spawning in a specific location i.e. in the middle of your base where you are grouping Teslas. As a result of the new update, you could also channel them into gaps, these gaps would lure them into traps - killing them instantly (spring traps etc). This technique can also be used to defend against alternative troops, such as Pekkas and Giants.

Dropping Trophies

Dropping Trophies - This term means to reduce your trophy count. This is often used to gather resources from less advance players with weaker defences.

One of the most efficient method to drop Trophies is to start an attack, drop a low cost troop i.e goblin and end the battle. As a result you will lose the match and trophies (shown in the top left when selecting a match). However, if you see the opportunity to gain some easy loot in the process, simply drop some Goblins. An example of easy loot are full gold or elixir on the outskirts of bases. Be careful, this can give high level players a chance to revenge your attack.

Looting/Farming

Looting/Farming - this term means gain loot from players with weak defences or loot uncollected from storage pumps.

When attacking think about the mines/pumps/storage proximity to defences, particularly Teslas and Wizard towers. If it’s going to take 100 Goblins to loot 50k, it's not a worthwhile attack. When looting you must be able to recognise villages worth attacking. Firstly, I would recommend cycling through villages monitoring the available gold, elixir and dark elixir. Ideally you are looking for villages that have 200,000+ of a given resource. Secondly, you need to look at the structure of the base. Observe the gold, elixir and dark elixir storages. If these appear to be full or half way full this means most of the resources allocated are in these storages. If these storages look hard to get to i.e in the middle of the base, you may want to move to the next village. However, if the storages appear empty, you need to find the collection pumps. You will most likely find that these pumps are full, often scattered on the outskirts of bases. These are the buildings you want to target as they contain he majority of the resources. I'd recommend unleashing a mixture of troops to destroy these. An effective mix of troops are giants to take the full force of the defensive buildings fire power, whilst using archers, globin’s and barbarians to attack the resource collector. Do these in stages, do not release 40+ troops on a resource collector, just for a motor to take them out in one or two hits. Do the above for all resource collectors.
